The Challenge

One of the biggest challenges was choosing which side of the marketplace to build-up first. After all, a start-up has limited resources. Luckily, Valoso had already built a very extensive network of freelances prior to my hopping on board.

Their next issue was coming up with ways to effectively attract customers to their marketplace. Valoso.com was a start-up with a limited budget. Along with this, they didn’t have significant market exposure. Thus, with limited internal experience with SEO and with limited resources for leveraging paid traffic, they were in dire need of highly targeted and cost-effective SEO strategies to ensure they would survive the brutal competition they were bound to face.

About the Business

Valoso was created in 2015 by Bobby Lin. Lin set out to create one of the very first video production marketplaces. From there, Valoso was able to attract thousands of different professionals within the video industry into its marketplace.

I was asked in 2015 to formulate and execute a full and comprehensive digital marketing strategy that primarily focused on maximizing traffic through organic means using SEO.

Our Approach

The solution I managed to come up with primarily focused on providing the necessary education to the founders on how to effectively implement fast and cost-effective digital marketing strategies within their marketing mix. I implemented necessary training procedures but I also set a company-wide standard by defining and implementing specific tactics to engage in. The strategies I encouraged were as follows:

  1. We focused on improving the content that was on the website by creating much more information content that was customer-focused and shareable. This helped position Valoso as authorities within the industry.
  2. We drove targeted traffic to generate more revenue potential for Valoso’s freelancing video professionals. 
  3. We added more calls to action all over the website. 
  4. We built relationships with highly-trafficked and authority websites within the same industry.
